At 2:30PM a four dour Pontiac Grand Am was going at least 60mph south bound on New Century Blvd. The driver apparently never saw the playground or the ‘T’ in the road. The car hit the curb and went air borne, taking down the street light and just clipping two trees before one of the rear tires hit just 3’ short of the landscaping timber – in other words, it sailed for over 60’. It then proceeded to take out the playground slide and climbing equipment and didn’t come to rest until the car was on the other side of the play area.
Thankfully no one was at playground equipment at that time. The Maplewood police responded very quickly and took the driver into custody. Excel energy was on the scene later to remove the light and cap the wires.

Also there is no overnight parking in Maplewood. You will be ticketed.
